The Evelyn Press is named for John Evelyn (1620-1706), the English diarist, gardener, founding member of the Royal Society, and friend of many of the 17th Century's best-known Englishmen, including Robert Boyle, Christopher Wren, and Samuel Pepys. This virtuoso was the father of John Evelyn (1655-1699), the translator, for whom the Evelyn Press is also named. Evelyn fanciers should consult The Diary of John Evelyn or The Writings of John Evelyn, both edited by Guy de la Bedoyere.
We expect to publish titles on a variety of subjects, ranging from local history to natural history and from the mundane to the arcane. We specialize in diaries, letters, journals and memoirs.
All inquiries are welcome.
